4/7/2020 - The Montrose Weekender has stopped its weekly publication which was a primary means of communication to our veterans and their families using the monthly Veterans Corner articles. The weekender was sent to over 12,700 homes. In order to help fill this void these monthly articles will now be posted and changed each month on the Susquehanna County Veterans Affairs web site at susqco.com. You may also be able to get this information by listening to the broadcasts of the WPEL radio station at 96.5 FM. As always you may call the VA office at (570) 278-5955 for any assistance needed.

Donations will accepted at your local fire, EMS and Police Departments. 4/15/2020 - HEATHER PEARSALL'S SUMMER FIREARMS SAFETY AND SPORTING CAMP FOR AGES 11-17 will be held at the New Milford Rifle and Pistol Club July 20th through July 25th. 4/17/2020 - THE DUNNEMANS will be in concert at The Boulevard United Methodist Church on Friday, April 17th. Dinner will be served at 6 PM followed by the concert at 7 PM. There is no charge but donations will be appreciated. The church is located at 113 Grand Boulevard in Binghamton. A dessert fellowship will follow the concert.

4/30/2020 - Penelec is asking customers who are facing a hardship to call them and speak with a team member. Service shutoffs for past due customers are temporarily discontinued...but they would still like you to call 1-800-545-7741. Claverack Electric will not disconnect members for non payment of their electric bills. They plan to work with members and make payment arrangements in the coming months.
4/30/2020 - The Susquehanna County Veterans Affairs office is offering application assistance to veterans that may have experienced financial losses in income due to the layoffs, reduced hours and temporary business closures related to the Covid-19 outbreak. Veterans may be eligible to apply under the State’s Veterans Temporary Assistance Program for a one time assistance check for up to $1,600. 4/30/2020 - PENNSYLVANIA'S ONLINE HUNTER-TRAPPER EDUCATION COURSE is availabe to anyone ages 11 and up, at no cost, through April 30th. Anyone wanting to purchase a Pennsylvania hunting license will need to complete this course before doing so. The online course is being offered due to the fact that in-person courses are unable to be held, through at least April 30, because of the COVID-19 outbreak. Typically, the online course is only available to those 16 and older and there is usually a fee to take the course online.
